Employees are often an employer’s most valuable asset and biggest overhead. Amidst the current economic gloom it has never been more important to ensure a high return on that investment. Changing demographics and the repeal of the default retirement age will also have repercussions for employers as employees look to stay in employment for longer and chase employment opportunities later in life. To meet these challenges employers will need to have good performance management processes in place at every level to prevent discrimination on the grounds of age and other grounds whilst ensuring employees are meeting, if not exceeding, all expectations.
Our workshop will be an interactive, practical session engaging delegates in case studies and other exercises to confirm their learning, which will enable delegates to:
• Understand the legal framework that applies to managing performance
• Appreciate the importance of diagnosing performance issues correctly
• Apply a step by step process to managing poor performance
• Assess the risks and evaluate options when performance remains unsatisfactory
• Acknowledge the other considerations that need to be given to performance issues to avoid unlawful discrimination
• Recognise the importance of consistently applying good performance management
• Approach performance management with confidence
This workshop is aimed at anyone with responsibility for performance management of employees and for HR officers with responsibility for supporting managers with performance management and the issues that flow from it.
